Exchange with Mother
I am watching her getting dressed, reading on her bed. She is already wearing a layer but still rummaging in her drawers
Me: Why do you always wear so much clothes?
She: When I'm on my period I like to keep warm.
Me: It's July.
She: I have to find a big blouse.
Me: Why?
She: Because. I feel too vulnerable. I feel bloated, my stomach has cramps.
Me: Here. (Throwing her some purple and yellow woven cloth) Wear this kente.
She: (Leaving the room) You wanna give it to Kunta, that's what you wanna do.
